# Boards

Arrange saved ideas on a grid or freeform board, then send selected material to Compose.

Boards are part of Ideas. A Board can use a grid or a freeform layout.

## Create a Board

1. Open **Ideas**.
2. Select **Boards**.
3. Select **Create board**.
4. Enter the **Board title**.
5. Select **Create board**.

A new Board starts in **Grid**. Switch to **Freeform** inside the Board when you need to arrange cards freely.

## Add saved material

1. Open the Board.
2. Select **Add an item**.
3. Choose saved material.
4. Confirm the selection.

Use **Add source** when you need new source material.

## Work with a freeform Board

A freeform Board lets you place, resize, and connect cards. Keyboard controls provide the same main actions.

Use connections to show a useful relationship between ideas. Do not use connections only as decoration.

## Use Board content with AI

Choose **Whole Board** or **Selected cards** before you open the AI panel.

## Start a post from selected cards

Select the cards, then select **Start draft in Compose**. Beacon keeps the Board brief, selected cards, and their connections beside your draft. The post editor starts empty, so those details do not become post copy by mistake.

Read **Ideas and sources for this draft** in Compose. Write the post yourself, or select **Use draft with AI**. Later Board changes do not change the material saved with this draft. AI can use that material only while you still have access to it.

For one card, open its menu and select **Create post**. The saved idea remains available for another post.
